  • Genital Swab in Sterile Tube w/Saline

Also Acceptable:
  • Vaginal Secretions in Sterile Tube w/Saline
Submit:
  • Genital Swab in Sterile Tube w/Saline. Submit Ambient.

Also Acceptable:
  • Vaginal Secretions in Sterile Tube w/Saline. Submit Ambient.
Special Handling:
  • Must be 0.5-1 ml saline in tube.
    Stability: Ambient 1 hour for Trichomonas or 24 hours for other elements.
Rejection Criteria:
  • Dry Swab
  • Swab not in saline
  • Time and temperature are critical for recovery of motile trichomonas.
    Process immediately after collection.
    Do NOT refrigerate.
