Collect

  • One SST

Also Acceptable:
  • One Red Top

Submit

  • 1 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum . Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • Avoid Repeated Freeze/Thaw Cycles
  • Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection
  • If acute and convalescent samples being collected, label as such. Convalescent sample must be received in lab within 30 days.

Rejection Criteria

  • Bacterially Contaminated Samples
  • Grossly Lipemic Samples
  • Heat inactivated
  • Hemolyzed specimens
  • Icteric specimen
